Kröller-Müller Museum

Kröller-Müller Museum

About this tour

Once every forty years or so the Kröller-Müller Museum hangs all of its Van Goghs at once. It happens from 15 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, under the title Van Gogh, All Our Paintings, 88 canvases in a museum built inside a national park. With white bicycles at the gate, red deer in the woods and an alpaca farm nearby, the art is one chapter of the day, and a good one.

The day

Meet the Storykeeper in the hotel lobby and drive to the park, about 1h15 from Amsterdam. Start in the sculpture garden, where children can climb into the Jean Dubuffet pavilion and walk around the Marta Pan floating sculpture, then go inside for a visit of the exhibition kept to the essentials. The Storykeeper follows Van Gogh's own three words, faith, hope and love, and tells the story of a failed preacher who painted for only ten years, through The Potato Eaters, The Sower and Terrace of a Café at Night.

After the galleries, collect the park's famous white bicycles and ride a loop through forest and heath to the Museonder, the underground museum where the roots of a 135 year old beech tree hang from the ceiling. Lunch at the park restaurant (not included).

In the afternoon, drive to an alpaca farm on the edge of the Veluwe, walk the animals through the fields on a lead and finish with coffee and cake at the farm café. Return to the hotel late in the afternoon.
