For the first time since 1984, the Kröller-Müller Museum is hanging every Van Gogh painting it owns. All 88 of them, from 15 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, in an exhibition called Van Gogh, All Our Paintings. On an ordinary day the museum shows around 35. The curators have arranged the paintings around three words, faith, hope and love, the text of the sermon Van Gogh preached in 1876, years before he picked up a brush. Studies and second versions that rarely leave the depot hang beside The Potato Eaters, The Sower and Terrace of a Café at Night.

The day
Meet the Storykeeper in the hotel lobby and drive into the Hoge Veluwe National Park, the largest continuous nature reserve in the Netherlands, where the road runs through forest, heath and drifting sand before reaching the museum. Begin in the sculpture garden while the paths are still empty, past Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and the Jean Dubuffet pavilion visitors can climb into, and arrive at the galleries at the pace the paintings need.
Inside, walk the exhibition room by room with the Storykeeper, from the dark Dutch years in Nuenen to the light of Arles and Saint Rémy. Continue where Van Gogh stops, through Seurat, Picasso and Mondrian, and see how the modern eye was made in a single building. With the galleries behind, visit the art bunker privately. In 1940 the whole collection went into this concrete shelter in the forest on handcarts and stayed there until the war was over. It is a small, cold room and the reason there is anything to hang this season at all.

Lunch at the museum restaurant or at a country inn on the edge of the park (not included). Weather permitting, take the park's famous white bicycles for a short loop through the woods before the drive back.
