About this tour
Two exhibitions, one square, one day. From 9 October 2026 to 17 January 2027 the Rijksmuseum shows Willem de Kooning at Work, more than 120 works by the Rotterdam stowaway who helped invent abstract expressionism in New York, while the Stedelijk, across the lawn, presents the final stop of the Yayoi Kusama retrospective, seven decades of work and a newly created Infinity Mirror Room, now her farewell after her death in August 2026. This is the compact version of the double exhibition day, with a walk through the gallery quarter of the Spiegelkwartier and lunch on the canal in between.

The tour
Meet the Storykeeper in the hotel lobby or at Museumplein and begin at the Rijksmuseum, first in the Gallery of Honour, where Woman I hangs near the Night Watch, then in the exhibition, where the drawings carry the story of 65 years of work and the Storykeeper adds the parts the wall texts leave out, the Cedar Tavern, Pollock, and the quiet role of the CIA in sending this art around the world.

Step out into the Spiegelkwartier for a walk along Nieuwe Spiegelstraat and Spiegelgracht, the street of antique dealers and galleries that has served the Rijksmuseum since it opened, and continue along the Prinsengracht to lunch at a canalside café (not included).
Finish at the Stedelijk with the Kusama retrospective. The Storykeeper follows the Infinity Nets, the Accumulations, the Pumpkins and the Infinity Mirror Rooms, connects Kusama to the Dutch Nul artists who showed her work here in the 1960s, and leaves the mirror room for the end, to be seen alone. The tour ends at Museumplein.
